Northern Ireland Transfer Test

Introduction to AQE and PPTC Northern Ireland Transfer Tests

Northern Ireland Academic Selection

The Academic Selection Process in Northern Ireland has drastically changed over the past year.  Until November 2008, the 11 plus transfer test administered by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment(CCEA) was the accepted method of transfer between primary and post primary schools.

Unhappy with the abolishment of the 11 plus exam, grammar schools have now commissioned their own entrance exams in English and Mathematics.  These schools fall into two groups, the Association for Quality Education (AQE) and The Post Primary Transfer Consortium (PPTC).  While both tests are based on the Northern Ireland Key Stage 2 Revised Curriculum, they are very different in structure, style and format.

The aim of this website is to help you understand the differences between these new transfers tests, as well as provide you with the information to allow your child to fulfil their potential and secure a place at the school of their choice.  I will update this website with any information that I find that will help us to get our children the best mark they can.

Listed below are all the schools participating in either the AQE or PPTC Northern Ireland Transfer Tests.
