Key Points
- All AQE schools will be using the Common Entrance Assessment
- Tests are held in participating grammar schools, you list three schools in order of preference.
- The CEA is based on three one-hour exams, best two marks count.
- Child only has to do two of the three papers if they wish.
- No supplementary paper.
- The Common Entrance Assessment test is based on the NICCEA(Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment) specification for the 2007/2008 Transfer Tests.
- The difference between the CEA and the old transfer test is that this new test will not include any of the Science or Technology elements.
- Essentially this new Common Entrance Assessment is the Mathematics and English sections of the old transfer test.
- You will therefore be able to use existing Transfer Test practice materials to help your child prepare for the Common Entrance Assessment.
From my research so far I have found that most books and papers are cheaper to buy online, the main highstreet bookshops seem to add a considerable markup. I have also found a couple of free sample papers from different websites.
As I find new materials I will add the links to the AQE Exam Resources Page, I will also add links to any books that I can find that will help.
